The House is a three-bedroom, two-storey 18/19th century farmhouse adjoining the barn and the owners’ single-storey cottage. It is stone-built (50cm walls) under a Roman-tiled roof.
Inside are exposed beams, wooden panelling and tiled ground floor, carefully restored to full modern standards; the windows are double-glazed in wooden frames. Heating is by electric radiators and the wood burning stove; the hot water is available all day. Safety features include smoke alarms, fire blanket, stays on upstairs windows etc.
Accommodation. (3 bedrooms; 1 bath, 1 shower, 3 WCs)
The entrance hall has a table, and doors to the stairs, the salle d’eau and the sitting room.
There is a large sitting room with the original granite fireplace and a wood-burning stove. The room contains a large settee and armchairs, a double sofa-bed, book-case, cupboard with games, jigsaw puzzles and a hi-fi, a second cupboard has shelves and hanging space for clothes. The dining table extends to seat up to eight people and there is a separate small table for childrens’ meals or other activities.
Double doors and steps lead down to the modern very well-equipped kitchen with oak-fronted cupboards and “all you would expect at home”- four-ring electric cooker with good sized oven and grill, microwave, dishwasher, and fridge-freezer. The arričre cave provides storage space for the high chair, iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner, spin dryer for swim wear etc.
The salle d’eau has WC, thermostatic shower, wash basin, washing machine and cupboard with Formica worktop.
Upstairs, there are three separate bedrooms, all fully equipped to English standards (duvets and pillows provided). Two of the rooms each have a 4ft6in double bed and the third, the children's bedroom with a 3ft single plus 2ft6in bunk beds.
There is a bathroom with bath, wash basin and WC and also a separate cabinet de toilette with WC and vanitory unit.
The door at the foot of the stairs prevents unsupervised access by toddlers.
Outside: The house and front garden face a metalled lane which leads to a chemin forestičre.
A large farm gate opens onto the hard-standing for cars and the hangar aux planches with the woodpiles and clothes lines – a good drying area, out of the sun. Another set of gates leads to the main garden.
The paved terrace behind the house has wooden dining furniture, parasols and a barbecue. It provides an excellent place for al fresco meals or sunbathing; sun-loungers and other chairs are available. The rest of the large garden has trees, a rose garden,flower and shrub borders and large grassed areas. There is a climbing frame and swings for the children. A paddling pool and other toys are kept in the games room.
The games room, beyond the barn, has a full-size table tennis table, a 6ft snooker table,a dartboard and items of beach equipment.
